Dhaka Metro Rail is an approved mass rapid transit system under construction in Dhaka. With a view to improving traffic in Dhaka city, its first formal trial ran in Dhaka's Mirpur area on Sunday, August 29, 2021. In 2012, the Government's Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project. The project is being implemented adhering the Time-bound Action Plan 2030 under Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). People will be able to travel the entire route in less than 40 minutes at a speed of 100 km/h (62 mph). Platform screen door (PSD) barriers used at the platform level will increase safety and efficiency.
