Students are the future hope of a country. During student life, students must cultivate the practice of doing all types of duties. These duties are not only limited to individual life but also extended to the service of family, institution, society, country and humanity. Proper execution of these duties makes a student life successful. 

There are a number of duties and responsibilities of students. The first and foremost duty of them is to acquire knowledge. But, they must not confine themselves to the academic study only. They must read newspapers, magazines, poetry, novels and dramas during their leisure. It will broaden their minds and enable them to know about the world. 

The second thing is that students must do all kinds of things needed for their individual life. For example, they must make a proper utilization of their time. They must attend their classes regularly. They must take care of their health because without having a good health they cannot go ahead. So, they must take regular physical exercise. 

They must develop their mental faculty by doing cocuicular activities. Most importantly, they must practice honesty, truthfulness, piety and kindness in every step of their lives. In short, student must try to pass a disciplined life. Students must not forget that they are part of a family, institution, society, country and the whole world. They must do their duties towards their parents, others family members, teachers, classmates. 

As members of the society, they have some duties and responsibilities to the people of the society. Students can utilize their free time for the poor and the illiterate to help them change their condition. They can teach them about family planning, health, nutrition and scientific method of cultivation etc. Students should extend their help during natural calamities. Students can have a proper mental and physical development by doing their duties properly. If they fail to do so, they grow up only to be the burden of a family and a society.

ছাত্রদের বেশ কিছু কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব রয়েছে। তাদের প্রথম ও প্রধান কর্তব্য হলো জ্ঞান অর্জন করা। তবে, তাদের কেবল একাডেমিক অধ্যয়নের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ রাখা উচিত নয়। তাদের অবসর সময়ে পত্র-পত্রিকা, কবিতা, উপন্যাস ও নাটক পড়তে হবে। এটি তাদের মনকে প্রশস্ত করবে এবং তাদের বিশ্ব সম্পর্কে জানতে সক্ষম করবে।

দ্বিতীয় বিষয় হল যে ছাত্রদের তাদের ব্যক্তিগত জীবনের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় সব ধরনের জিনিস করতে হবে। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, তাদের অবশ্যই তাদের সময়ের সঠিক ব্যবহার করতে হবে। তাদের নিয়মিত ক্লাসে উপস্থিত থাকতে হবে। তাদের অবশ্যই তাদের স্বাস্থ্যের যত্ন নিতে হবে কারণ ভাল স্বাস্থ্য না থাকলে তারা এগিয়ে যেতে পারে না। তাই তাদের নিয়মিত শারীরিক ব্যায়াম করতে হবে।

কোকুইকুলার ক্রিয়াকলাপ করে তাদের অবশ্যই তাদের মানসিক ফ্যাকাল্টি বিকাশ করতে হবে। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা, তাদের জীবনের প্রতিটি ধাপে সততা, সত্যবাদিতা, ধর্মপরায়ণতা এবং দয়ার অনুশীলন করতে হবে। মোটকথা, শিক্ষার্থীকে সুশৃঙ্খল জীবন পার করার চেষ্টা করতে হবে। শিক্ষার্থীদের ভুলে গেলে চলবে না যে তারা একটি পরিবার, প্রতিষ্ঠান, সমাজ, দেশ এবং সমগ্র বিশ্বের অংশ। তাদের অবশ্যই তাদের পিতামাতা, পরিবারের অন্যান্য সদস্য, শিক্ষক, সহপাঠীর প্রতি তাদের কর্তব্য পালন করতে হবে।

সমাজের সদস্য হিসেবে সমাজের মানুষের প্রতি তাদের কিছু কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব রয়েছে। শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের অবসর সময়কে দরিদ্র এবং নিরক্ষরদের জন্য তাদের অবস্থা পরিবর্তন করতে সাহায্য করতে পারে। তারা তাদের পরিবার পরিকল্পনা, স্বাস্থ্য, পুষ্টি এবং চাষের বৈজ্ঞানিক পদ্ধতি ইত্যাদি সম্পর্কে শেখাতে পারে। শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগের সময় তাদের সাহায্য করা উচিত। শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের দায়িত্ব সঠিকভাবে পালনের মাধ্যমে সঠিক মানসিক ও শারীরিক বিকাশ ঘটাতে পারে। যদি তারা তা করতে ব্যর্থ হয় তবে তারা কেবল একটি পরিবার এবং একটি সমাজের বোঝা হয়ে বড় হয়।
