One day a lion was sleeping in its cave. A mouse was playing nearby. While playing it by! chance it ran over the lion's body. At this, the lion woke up and became very angry. With a terrible roar he caught the mouse and said, "You tiny creature, how dare you tease me? 

I will kill you. The mouse began to tremble in fear and begged for its life. It also said, "Your Majesty, I am a little creature but I can help others. Please let me go, sooner or later, I may help! you. Besides, il you kill me, it will bring no fame to you." 

Hearing this, the lion burst into laughter and said, "O you! Are you suitable to help me?" However, he set the mouse free and told it to do its own job. After sometime, the lion fell into a hunter's trap. The lion tried his best! to be free from the net but could not. 

He began to roar and said, "Save me please, save me please." Listening this, the mouse came swiftly and found the lion in a trap. The mouse said, "Your Majesty, please don't worry and keep quiet. I will cut the net into pieces and thereby you will be able to come out. The mouse cut the net into pieces and the lion became free. 

Being free. the lion said. “You are small in size but worthy. You have saved my life and many thanks! to you." In fact, the strong or mighty someone is also dependent on the weak one. From then, the lion was kind hearted' to the tiny creatures. From the story we learn that we should have fellow feelings among us and the rich should show kindness to the poor.

অর্থঃ একদিন একটি সিংহ তার গুহায় ঘুমাচ্ছিল। কাছেই একটা ইঁদুর খেলছিল। এটা খেলার সময়! সুযোগে তা সিংহের শরীরের উপর দিয়ে চলে গেল। এতে সিংহ জেগে ওঠে এবং ভীষণ রেগে যায়। ভয়ানক গর্জনে সে ইঁদুরটিকে ধরে বলল, “তুমি ছোট্ট প্রাণী, আমাকে জ্বালাতন করার সাহস কী করে হল?

আমি আপনাকে হত্যা করব. ইঁদুর ভয়ে কাঁপতে লাগলো এবং প্রাণ ভিক্ষা করতে লাগলো। এটি আরও বলেছিল, "মহারাজ, আমি একটি ছোট প্রাণী কিন্তু আমি অন্যদের সাহায্য করতে পারি। দয়া করে আমাকে যেতে দিন, তাড়াতাড়ি বা পরে, আমি সাহায্য করতে পারি!

একথা শুনে সিংহ অট্টহাসিতে ফেটে পড়ল এবং বলল, "হে তুমি! তুমি কি আমাকে সাহায্য করার উপযুক্ত?" যাইহোক, তিনি মাউসটিকে মুক্ত করে দিয়েছিলেন এবং এটিকে নিজের কাজ করতে বলেছিলেন। কিছুক্ষণ পর সিংহটি শিকারির ফাঁদে পড়ে। সিংহ তার যথাসাধ্য চেষ্টা করল! নেট থেকে মুক্ত হতে কিন্তু পারিনি।

তিনি গর্জন করতে লাগলেন এবং বললেন, আমাকে বাঁচান প্লিজ, আমাকে বাঁচান প্লিজ। একথা শুনে ইঁদুর দ্রুত এসে সিংহটিকে ফাঁদে ফেলল। ইঁদুর বলল, "মহারাজ, আপনি চিন্তা করবেন না এবং চুপ করে থাকুন। আমি জালটিকে টুকরো টুকরো করে কেটে দেব এবং এতে আপনি বেরিয়ে আসতে পারবেন। ইঁদুরটি জালটিকে টুকরো টুকরো করে কেটে সিংহটি মুক্ত হয়ে গেল।

মুক্ত হচ্ছে। সিংহ বলল। “আপনি আকারে ছোট কিন্তু যোগ্য। আপনি আমার জীবন রক্ষা করেছেন এবং অনেক ধন্যবাদ! আপনার কাছে।" আসলে, শক্তিশালী বা পরাক্রমশালী কেউ দুর্বলের উপরও নির্ভরশীল। তখন থেকে, সিংহটি ক্ষুদ্র প্রাণীদের প্রতি সদয় ছিল। গল্প থেকে আমরা শিখি যে আমাদের এবং ধনীদের মধ্যে সহানুভূতি থাকা উচিত। দরিদ্রদের প্রতি দয়া দেখাতে হবে।

Once, a lion was sleeping in a forest. Suddenly, a mouse came there. It did not notice the sleeping lion. It was running about and playing happily. Accidentally it ran over the face of the lion and awoke him. At this, the lion grew very angry. 

It caught the mouse and said, “You little creature, how dare you disturb me. I'll kill you." The mouse got frightened and said, “Your Majesty, if you kill a little creature like me, it will not bring any credit for you. Please, excuse me for this time.” The lion felt pity and let the mouse go. 

The mouse thanked the lion and said Sif I get any opportunity, I'll help you.” The lion laughed and said, “A little creature like you can never help a creature like me.” After a few days, the lion was caught in a hunter's net. It tried hard to be free, but failed and so, it began to roar helplessly. 

Hearing the roar of the lion, the mouse came quickly and said, “Sir, please wait. I'll help you." The mouse cut the net with its sharp teeth and set the lion free. The lion was very happy and said, “Thank you little mouse. You have saved my life. Now I know that the small ones can also help the big ones.”

অর্থঃ একবার এক বনে সিংহ ঘুমাচ্ছিল। হঠাৎ সেখানে একটা ইঁদুর এসে পড়ল। এটা ঘুমন্ত সিংহের নজরে পড়েনি। এটা প্রায় দৌড় এবং আনন্দে খেলা ছিল. ঘটনাক্রমে তা সিংহের মুখের উপর দিয়ে ছুটে গিয়ে তাকে জাগিয়ে তুলল। এতে সিংহ খুব রেগে গেল। ওটা ইঁদুরটাকে ধরে বললো, “তুমি ছোট্ট প্রাণী, তোমার সাহস কি করে হলো আমাকে বিরক্ত করার। 

আমি তোমাকে মেরে ফেলব।" ইঁদুরটি ভয় পেয়ে বলল, "মহারাজ, আপনি যদি আমার মতো একটি ছোট প্রাণীকে হত্যা করেন তবে এটি আপনার জন্য কোনও কৃতিত্ব দেবে না। দয়া করে, এই সময়ের জন্য আমাকে ক্ষমা করুন।" সিংহের করুণা হল এবং ইঁদুরকে ছেড়ে দিল। 

ইঁদুরটি সিংহকে ধন্যবাদ জানাল এবং বলল সিফ আমি যদি কোনো সুযোগ পাই, আমি তোমাকে সাহায্য করব। সিংহ হেসে বলল, "তোমার মতো ছোট্ট প্রাণী আমার মতো প্রাণীকে কখনো সাহায্য করতে পারে না।" কয়েকদিন পর সিংহ শিকারির জালে ধরা পড়ল।

মুক্ত হতে অনেক চেষ্টা করেও ব্যর্থ হল, তাই নিঃস্ব হয়ে গর্জন করতে লাগল।সিংহের গর্জন শুনে ইঁদুর দ্রুত এসে বলল, “স্যার, প্লিজ! অপেক্ষা করুন। আমি তোমাকে সাহায্য করব।" ইঁদুর তার ধারালো দাঁত দিয়ে জাল কেটে সিংহকে মুক্ত করে দিল। সিংহ খুব খুশি হয়ে বলল, “তোমাকে ধন্যবাদ ছোট্ট ইঁদুর। আপনি আমার জীবন রক্ষা করেছেন. এখন আমি জানি যে ছোটরাও বড়দের সাহায্য করতে পারে।”
